Black Rainbow

My supervisor, Shelby, posing with my "hardware", a Little Gem II.

And on the wheel ---

--- the beginnings of 250g of "Black Rainbow" a dyed, Halfbred wool blended with 10% rainbow glitter. I bought it from the Aurelia booth at Fibrefest International. I'm spinning it fine, to become a 2ply laceweight.

I hope to use the finished yarn for a beaded, evening type shawl to use in the holiday season. I still haven't picked a pattern though. Any suggestions? I'd like something reasonably complex --- not just one stitch pattern throughout, and I seem to lean toward triangular or faroese shawls though I would consider others.

That is some gorgeous fiber! It's going on my list of to-buy.

Is it soft?

Yes Lizzi, I LOVE my Little Gem II. It spins beautifully and is full height but doesn't take up a lot of floor space. It's a compact wheel that folds up into its own carrying case too. I wouldn't trade it for any other.

It's very nice combed top Hattie. Not as soft as merino, but lovely just the same. I thought maybe the sparkly "rainbow glitter" might make it scratchy, but it doesn't.

Check out Sivia Harding's designs. She loves beads ;-) Her yahoo group is currently doing a beaded variation of one of her stole patterns.

Her Shetland Garden Faroese is I think fantastic and giggle so did my dh when he saw my current wallpaper

I've done Sivia's Diamond Fantasy Shawl in the past Dorothy, and the Shetland Garden Faroese is beautiful but I was looking for something with a little more interest on the very edge, where I would like to add beads.
