I Got Distracted

If you recall, I was spinning some lovely purple, blue, black colonial wool. (way back when)
After I finished spinning the second bobbin and before plying them together, I got distracted by the Winter 2007 Wild Fibers Magazine article about the Buffalo Gold fiber contest winner Evelyn Clark's Heartland Shawl.
I thought how neat would that be to spin up the Buffalo (Bison) which I bought at Rhinebeck '06 before I knew anything about fiber and spinning. I was hooked.
Spinning this stuff on my laceweight Golding was like spinning butter. (sorry for bad pix, it didn't sit still long enough for a good shot)
This is a 3 ply Sport-DK weight with 2 singles of handspun bison and 1 ply commercial silk (advised by ThreeSheets)
After spindling for about a week, I couldn't wait to start knitting, so I started knitting the shawl on my commute and spinning at night in front of the TV.
Then I traveled back and forth from NY to California for 2 weeks for business which gave me 25 hours of dedicated knitting time and so here we have it blocking on a sheet:

For more info check out my blog and later my video podcast LetsKnit2gether for details.
Now we return you to your regularly scheduled program.... I'll return with the other yarn eventually....

That is so Gorgeous! It looks fantastic. The color is amazing. I think adding the silk gives a nice touch because it gives it a sheen. The pattern really stands out with your handspun. I am so excited to see it. I can't wait to see the other handspuns. Congrats!

Oh my, how beautiful!! It looks great, the spinning looks very even, very professional. I know how soft yak can be, I was really surprised by it actually. Is buffalo like it in softness?
