One End Done (Legends of the Shetland Seas Stole)

Well it has been a long time since I posted. The "Legends" stole went to the back burner while I finished other lace projects but I have resumed knitting on it. The Center has been done and now one end is also completed. See above. 2 ply BFL and Merino singles from fiber purchased from Lisa Souza . Now to do the other end.

This looks gorgeous, and very difficult to knit.

Magnificent work. I'm in awe of the concentration this takes!

Dear monika,

Thank you! It's not as hard as say, a Sharon Miller Pattern but more difficult than something by Evelyn Clark. It's not hard at all if you are familier with Shetland Lace. Actually, it was more difficult to spin the yarn than to knit the lace LOL!

Dear Petunia,

I knit quite a lot of lace these days and this pattern is actually not so very difficult on the "painful to knit" scale! Hazel Carters patterns are really a pretty nice introduction to Shetland Lace if you want to try some :-)

Dear Mel,

I'm glad you like it! It is very satisfying to knit and for once the variegated yarn ended up being an asset rather than a hinderence to the pattern. One thing I have to be careful of, however, is when I have to do the edging. I want to keep the colors in the darker ranges without big jumps to lighter colors. I'm knitting Hazel Carters "Sampler Stole" in a commercial variegated yarn and the edge sucks whenever the color shifts to a very light color :-( I won't be making that mistake with this stole though. Thanks again for the encouragement.

Dear baabins,

You have been very patient with me. I'm afraid I knit multipal things at one time so it take a while to finish a project, but I promise to work more on it in December. Happy Holidays!
